An graduation project

For this design question I had two hales. One half was bringing forth the element of fantasy and the other half was telegraphing a specific to the player.

I played around with the shape of an Rhino, for their point of danger being very obvious. At the tip of their nose. I enjoyed this creature’s shapes, but the setting would have no connections to Rhino’s since all other inspiration was very European in nature.

In the early stages

In the early stages I was looking for a theme that would communicate this danger element well. Since the player was going to be stuck in a an arena I started to think about bull fighting.

I’ve also attempted to make variations on what kind of personality this creature has. Is it meant to be a scary creature, an elegant beast, a big monster or should it have more of an guardian vibe.

Changing my mind,,

Returning to my previous inspiration I returned to experimenting with bull shapes. The bull motive also fitted better with the colosseum I had developed. It’s an observatory, it has an ton of star motives. So the bull connection is not only an answer to the gameplay but also the context of the environment. As in it being the star sing Taurus.
